Bella Piatto

A Perfect Fit for the Peter’s Township Palate

The staff at Bella Piatto: (l-r) Lori Smith, manager, Jeremy Fien, kitchen supervisor, Deborah Goydich, manager, Jeff McMurdy, chef and Alan G. Collins, culinary director

It was over two years ago that four local entrepreneurs responded to the need for a family-friendly, affordable, authentic Italian restaurant in Peters Township. In 2004, they opened Bella Piatto.

Featuring gourmet Italian dishes at everyday prices, Bella has built its reputation on its award-winning chef, Alan Collins, as well as its widely varied menu and strong service. Collins is a self-taught chef from a family of chefs, and a five-time winner of the March of Dimes Star Chefs of Washington County Award for original dishes.

This year, Chef Collins was awarded both the “Peoples Choice” and “Hall of Fame” award from the March of Dimes event.  The “Peoples Choice” honor is given to the restaurant with the most votes received from guests attending the event and choosing their favorite tastes. The “Hall of Fame” distinction is recognition by an independent panel of judges that select the best tastes from a restaurant that has competed in the event for two years or more.

Chef Collins’ award-winning dishes include Rotola DiPasta (homemade pasta, topped with fresh spinach, prosciutto and Italian cheeses, finished with homemade tomato-basil-cream sauce) and Veal Collini (tender, breaded veal topped with artichoke hearts and rich crabmeat in a lemon pepper cream sauce). He makes all sauces, soups and pastas from scratch and hand butchers meats to order. His herbs are picked daily from an outside kitchen garden.

Appetizing, Aesthetic and Affordable
As popular as the menu, Bella Piatto’s commitment to remaining an affordable place to eat and drink is evidenced by weekly promotions that include:

7 everyday lunch combinations — Choices range from sandwiches like Chicken Salad, Portabella or Grilled Chicken to Chicken Tetrazzini, Greens and Beans, Shrimp Scampi and Italian Casserole, all complete with a side and a soft drink.
Sunday half-priced kid’s meals — One with each adult meal purchased and including a free sundae.
Happy hour every day from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. – With half-priced drinks and free appetizers.
Piccolo Piatto: popular entrées served in smaller portions — perfect for smaller appetites and of course, at a smaller price.
Early Bird Specials Monday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.. Choices include favorites from the menu.
Grande Piatto — complete family-style take-out meals (with pasta) serving 4-6 people family favorites like Chicken Marsala, homemade spaghetti, Veal Parmesan, Shrimp Scampi and Manicotti.

Private Parties
In addition, Bella Piatto offers private dining ideal for birthday parties, anniversaries, rehearsal parties and business meetings. Event planners can choose from the existing menu or work with Chef Alan Collins to create a special presentation for their party.
