CASA for Kids
CASA for Kids, Inc., trains volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in Washington County courts. Besides needing volunteers, the organization has several board openings, and can also use support in various other facets of the agency. Military Connections: Donations to Our Soldiers
Military Connections (6170 Library Road, Suite 61, Bethel Park, PA 15102) provides a number of services to connect citizens at home with our military personnel overseas. One is “Adopt a Soldier or Marine for Easter” for a $7.00 donation; they are hoping to ship 4,000 dozen eggs. To send letters, gifts, boxes of Girl Scout cookies, leftover Christmas cards, or other supplies to our soldiers and Marines, contact or visit the Military Connections office.

Canonsburg Park Fundraising
Fundraising for the $5.2 million renovation of Canonsburg Town Park is underway. In addition to applying for state grants, the borough is seeking community donations. The renovated park will include improvements to the pool and playgrounds, a new indoor sports facility, skateboard park, bocce court, and various road and parking-lot improvements. McDonald Area Redevelopment Association
Anyone interested in joining M.A.R.A. (McDonald Area Redevelopment Association) may do so by calling 724-926-4617. This is a nonprofit organization involved in attracting business development, encouraging community beautification, sponsoring local holiday-event celebrations, and much more. Come and join others at the McDonald Trail Station at 161 S. McDonald Street in McDonald the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m.

On April 3, starting at 11:30 a.m., the Crowne Plaza (164 Fort Couch Road, Bethel Park) will host another installment of the Takin’ Care of Business Small Business Owners Luncheon Series. Red Carpet Gala
St. Patrick School will host its 10th Annual Dinner Dance “Red Carpet Gala” at the Holiday Inn, Meadowlands on Saturday, April 5. Tickets include dinner, open bar, and dancing ($65/person). Penn State Alumni Annual Banquet
The Washington/Greene Counties Chapter of the Penn Sate Alumni Association will be holding their annual banquet on Saturday, April 12 at the Golf Club of Washington. All Alumni and supporters of Penn State are welcome to attend. The event starts at 6:00 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres and cash bar. The featured speaker (TBA) will begin at 6:30 followed by a buffet dinner and Penn State Creamery ice cream for dessert. Tickets are $24.95 per person. The Great PA Clean UP - “Sweep Into Spring”
It is community support that keeps America beautiful and a better place to live! During the recognized National Earth Week , join local groups & residents in North Strabane Township from 10:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. Meet at the North Strabane Ball Field located at the Municipal Park at 10:00 a.m. Refreshments will be provided. All participants will receive a “Thank-you” Earth Day Gift !. All residents and businesses are encouraged to participate in picking up litter. We will provide the trash bags, orange vests, and gloves.
If you can not attend, just help out and clean around your residence. If you would like to clean-up in a designated area please call to make arrangements to pick up maintenance items. You can also volunteer to participate in flower planting in the Park!

Ride On for Autism
A very worthy organization, Autism Speaks©, will benefit from the proceeds from its Ride On for Autism Motorcycle Run, which takes place on Sunday, April 27. The ride starts and ends at the Bridgeville Fire Hall. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., with coffee and donuts; after the trip, riders return to the Fire Hall to enjoy lunch, music, door prizes, a silent auction, and a 50/50 raffle.
